Prof. Gerwin Schmidt

1966 born in Munich. 1987 graduated from high school in Munich. 1988 to 1989 community service, work with animated cartoons, work for agencies, drawing school. 1990 to 1992 studied communication design at Kassel University. 1992 to 1997 studied visual communication and painting at design university HfG Karlsruhe. 1993 to 1997 freelance designer in Karlsruhe, Cologne and Munich. Since 1997 own design-office in Munich. Book- and posterdesign for mostly cultural clients like: Munich Chamber Orchestra, Design Zentrum München, Die Neue Sammlung München, Haus der Kunst München, Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, etc. corporate-design for cultural events and businesclients. 1998–2014 graphic-design of Revolver magazine for cinema. 2001 to 2007 corporate-design for Gaggenau. Since 2014 corporate-design for Bulthaup. Mid-1999 to 2003 guest lecturer at Fachhochschule Vorarlberg, Austria, Intermedia Department. 2000 poster workshop for the Icelandic Design Association in Reykjavik, Iceland. 2001 and 2006 guest lecturer at the Iceland Academy of the Arts, Reykjavik. 2001 poster workshop at the invitation of the Goethe-Institut at the Cracow Academy of Arts, Poland, Graphic Design Department. Since 2003 professor for communication design at the State Academy of Art Stuttgart. From 2010 to 2013 member of Schmidt/Thurner/von Keisenberg. Since 2003 member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale).
